welcome...
After studying Textiles & Design at college, I started work in the fashion industry, in London. I met and married a carpenter/sculptor and as our family expanded, the travel and workload I was doing in the Far East and Europe began to tell, so we moved out of London, down to Devon and a new career. Looking for premises to develop a new buisness idea we found an old, empty Undertaker's workshop. We fell in love with it and bought it on the spot.
By combining my background in design and textiles and my husband's skills as a carpenter/sculptor we could restore and re-upholster furniture together in our workshop. Now five years on I have re-trained and learnt the skills and techniques of Traditional Upholstery. Geoff, my husband, handles the restoration and makes his own pieces of furniture. We travel to auctions and flea markets picking up curiosities and furniture in need of restoration and breath new life into it. I hunt for vintage and unusual fabrics and braids and use unexpected or re-cycled coverings where ever possible. We welcome commissions and consultations can be arranged at the workshop or in your own home. Please e-mail me for more information or visit the gallery.
